Will the bank accept a ripped note?

Excuse me, I have a question regarding the acceptance of a damaged banknote. I recently came across a note that has been torn or ripped in several places. I was wondering if it would still be acceptable for deposit or exchange at the bank? Would the bank still honor its value, or is there a specific policy in place regarding the condition of banknotes?
