Will we have to pay for Gmail?

I'm curious to know if there's been any indication that we'll have to start paying for Gmail in the future. It's been a free service for so long, but with the ever-evolving landscape of digital communication and the need for companies to generate revenue, it's understandable if there are plans to change that. However, I'm hoping that Google continues to offer Gmail as a free service, as it's an invaluable tool for both personal and professional use. Have there been any recent announcements or rumors about Gmail becoming a paid service?
