Is order 2 abelian?

Could you please clarify for me if order 2 groups are necessarily abelian? I understand that abelian groups are those in which the group operation is commutative, meaning that the order of elements in the operation does not affect the result. However, I'm not entirely sure if all groups of order 2 inherently possess this property. Could you elaborate on whether or not order 2 groups are indeed abelian, and if so, why? Is order 2 abelian?
