Is Dilaudid stronger than morphine?

I'm curious to know, in terms of pain relief, does Dilaudid pack a stronger punch than morphine? I've heard both are powerful opioids, but I'm unsure about their relative strengths. Could you shed some light on this for me? Is there a significant difference in their potency, or are they more or less on par with each other? And, if Dilaudid is indeed stronger, what makes it so?
