What ever happened to Tom's shoes?

I'm curious, what became of Tom's shoes? Did he lose them in some mishap, or did they simply wear out over time? Did he replace them with a new pair, or is he now walking around barefoot? I'm intrigued to know the fate of those shoes, and what led to their disappearance from Tom's possession. Could you provide any insight into this matter?
