How safe is Aave lending?

I've been hearing a lot about AAVE lending lately, but I'm still a bit hesitant about its safety. Can you explain to me how secure is Aave lending, and what measures does the platform take to protect users' funds? Is there a risk of losing money if I participate in Aave lending?
