What does the Bible say about gold and silver being worthless?

In the face of the impending wrath of the Lord, people will find their precious metals of little value. They will cast their silver aside, once a symbol of wealth and prosperity, into the streets, where it will lie abandoned.

Their gold, once revered for its rarity and beauty, will be deemed an unclean thing. No longer will it hold the allure and fascination it once did, for in the eyes of the Lord, it has failed to serve its true purpose.

The very metals that were once thought to provide security and stability will prove to be powerless in the day of the Lord's anger. Silver and gold, once hoarded as a hedge against uncertainty, will be unable to save those who have trusted in them.

Hunger will grip those who have placed their faith in material wealth, and they will find that their silver and gold cannot satisfy their ravenous appetites. Their stomachs will remain empty, despite the abundance of metals they once possessed.

The reason for this is clear: their silver and gold have led them astray. They have stumbled into sin, blinded by the allure of wealth and the promise of security it seemed to offer. But in the end, it has proven to be a false god, unable to deliver them from the consequences of their actions.
