Does God want us to be rich in money?

Is it really God's intention for us to seek financial abundance, especially in the form of monetary wealth? Are there not other, more spiritual, forms of richness that we should aspire to? Or does God have a specific plan for each of us in terms of our financial status, and we should simply trust in His will? How can we discern the difference between a desire for material gain and a legitimate pursuit of financial stability and success?
