Is it possible to stop osmosis?

Can osmosis, this natural phenomenon that drives the movement of solvent molecules from a lower concentration to a higher concentration across a semi-permeable membrane, actually be halted or stopped completely? Is there a way to manipulate the conditions that allow osmosis to occur, such as altering the concentration gradient or the properties of the membrane, in order to prevent the Flow of solvent? Are there any known scientific methods or techniques that can be employed to effectively stop osmosis in its tracks?
