Is voxel art easy?

I'm curious, is voxel art really as straightforward as some people make it out to be? I've seen some incredible creations using this technique, but I'm not sure if it's something that can be easily picked up by a beginner. Is there a steep learning curve, or can anyone with a bit of patience and creativity start creating voxel art right away? I'd love to hear from someone who has experience with this form of digital art and can offer some insight into the process.
