Can you lose in bot trading?

Can you really lose money in bot trading? I've heard that automated Trading Bots can be incredibly profitable, but I'm also wary of the risks involved. After all, these bots are just algorithms, and they can't predict the future. Is it possible for them to make mistakes that could lead to financial losses?
