Are Shibas high maintenance?

Are Shibas really as high-maintenance as some people claim? I've heard that they can be quite stubborn and independent, requiring a lot of attention and training. Is this true, or are they just misunderstood pets that can thrive with the right owner and care? I'm interested in adopting a Shiba Inu but want to make sure I'm prepared for the potential challenges that come with owning one.
