Can you buy coins directly on Ledger?

Excuse me, I was wondering if it's possible to directly purchase coins on the Ledger platform? I've heard about Ledger being a popular hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency securely, but I'm not sure if it also facilitates the process of buying coins. Could you please clarify if I can make purchases directly on Ledger, or if I would need to use a separate exchange or platform to acquire my coins first, and then transfer them to my Ledger wallet for safekeeping?
