Is stride rate the same as cadence?

Excuse me, but could you please clarify something for me? I've been reading about running and I came across the terms stride rate and cadence, and I'm wondering if they're actually the same thing? I understand that stride rate refers to the number of steps taken per minute, but I'm not sure if cadence refers to the same thing or if it's something different. Could you help me understand the distinction, if any, between these two terms?
