Can you plug a switch into an ONT?

Excuse me, could you please clarify for me whether it's possible to connect a switch directly to an Optical Network Terminal, or ONT, for short? I'm trying to set up my home network and I'm not sure if this is a viable option or if there are any potential issues I should be aware of. Your expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated.
