Can I get my dog a cat?

I'm a pet owner who's currently the proud guardian of a loyal dog. However, I've been considering adding another furry friend to the family - specifically, a cat. I'm aware that dogs and cats can sometimes have a tumultuous relationship, but I'm also hopeful that they could coexist peacefully. So, my question is, can I realistically expect to introduce a cat into my home and have it coexist harmoniously with my dog? What factors should I consider to ensure a smooth transition? Will I need to make any specific adjustments to my pet care routine? And, ultimately, is it feasible to have both a dog and a cat as pets?
