Is TRC20 the same as TRX?

Could you please clarify for me the difference, if any, between TRC20 and TRX? I've been hearing these two terms used interchangeably in the crypto community, but I'm not entirely sure if they are indeed synonymous. TRX, I understand, is the native token of the Tron blockchain, but what exactly is TRC20? Is it a token standard, a type of token, or something else entirely?
