Is ENS the same as Ethereum?

I'm curious, could you clarify for me the relationship between ENS and Ethereum? Are they interchangeable concepts, or do they serve distinct roles within the cryptosphere? I've heard ENS mentioned often in the context of domain names and Ethereum addresses, but I'm not quite sure how they're linked. Could you elaborate on the similarities and differences between these two entities? Would it be accurate to say that ENS is simply an extension of Ethereum, or does it stand alone as its own entity?
