Can you convert wrapped ETH to ETH?

Can you help me understand something? I've been hearing a lot about wrapped ETH, and I'm wondering if it's possible to convert it back to regular ETH. Is there a process for doing this? I'm just trying to wrap my head around the whole concept of wrapped tokens and how they work in the crypto ecosystem. Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
