Is Cosmos a DeFi?

I've been hearing a lot about Cosmos recently, and I'm trying to wrap my head around it. Is Cosmos considered a DeFi project? I've seen it described as an ecosystem for interoperable blockchains, but I'm not entirely clear on how that ties in with decentralized finance. Can you clarify this for me? Are the applications and services built on Cosmos leveraging DeFi principles? Or is Cosmos more focused on something else entirely? I'm just trying to get a better understanding of where it fits in the larger crypto and finance landscape.
