Is a core a million?

Excuse me, could you please clarify something for me? I've been hearing a lot of talk about cryptocurrency lately, and I'm trying to wrap my head around the terminology. When someone says 'a core,' does that mean it's equivalent to a million? Or am I misunderstanding the concept? I'm still new to this world and I'm trying to learn as much as I can.
