Is wrapped XRP the same as XRP?

Excuse me, could you clarify something for me? I've been hearing a lot about wrapped XRP recently, and I'm wondering if it's essentially the same as plain XRP. I understand that wrapping assets is a way to make them compatible with certain blockchain networks, but does that mean wrapped XRP and XRP have identical value and functionality? Or are there key differences that I should be aware of? I'm trying to wrap my head around this concept and how it applies to the larger crypto ecosystem. Your explanation would be greatly appreciated.
