Why can i only buy $1000 on Coinbase?

I'm just curious, why is it that I'm only able to purchase up to $1000 worth of cryptocurrency on Coinbase? I've been looking into crypto for a while now and am eager to invest more, but this limit seems to be holding me back. Could it be related to my account verification status? Or is it a safety measure to protect new investors from overexposing themselves? I'd really appreciate it if you could shed some light on this matter.
