How do you earn BNB?

I'm curious, how do you actually earn BNB? I've heard about it being a popular token in the crypto space, but I'm not quite sure how to get my hands on some. Do you need to mine it? Can you buy it directly? Or is there some other method that I'm not aware of? I'd really appreciate if you could break it down for me. I'm still new to this whole crypto thing and want to make sure I'm doing it the right way.
