Can I leave Korea without my arc?

Excuse me, I'm a bit confused. I'm planning to leave Korea soon, and I was wondering if it's okay to do so without my Alien Registration Card, or 'ARC' as it's commonly called. I've heard different things from different people, some saying it's not a problem, while others claiming it's absolutely necessary. Could you please clarify this matter for me? Is it permissible to depart Korea without my ARC, or am I required to have it in my possession at all times? Thank you for your time and assistance.
