Can the Kraken be killed?

So, can the Kraken really be killed? I've heard so many legends about this monster, but I've never heard of anyone actually succeeding in defeating it. It's said to possess incredible strength and regenerative abilities, making it virtually immortal. And even if one were to manage to wound it, its venom is said to be so deadly that it could kill anyone who comes into contact with it. So, is it really possible to kill the Kraken, or is it just a legend that will never be proven true?
