US equity futures moved sharply higher after Nvidia released its earnings. Nasdaq 100 futures rose nearly 1% in after-hours trading, while S&P 500 futures gained around 0.6% and Dow futures advanced about 0.5%. Strong AI chip demand temporarily eased concerns over technology-sector valuations and capital spending.
2. Nvidia Q2 Revenue Reaches $96.2 Billion as Data Center Sales Jump 117%
Nvidia’s second-quarter revenue more than doubled year-on-year to $96.22 billion, beating market expectations of $92.17 billion. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $2.22, also above expectations. Data center revenue reached $89 billion, up 117% year-on-year and above the $85.08 billion consensus estimate.
3. Nvidia Forecasts $108 Billion in Q3 Revenue and Issues Rare Long-Term High-Growth Guidance
Nvidia expects third-quarter revenue of around $108 billion, above analysts’ average estimate of $104.19 billion. The company also forecast approximately 70% revenue growth for the next fiscal year ending January 2028, far above Wall Street’s previous estimate of around 44%. Its Vera Rubin platform has already begun shipping to customers.
4. Bitcoin Holds Near $79,000 After Testing $81,000
Bitcoin was last trading around $78,836, up 0.12% over the past 24 hours and 13.77% over seven days. After reaching a high of $81,235, BTC saw profit-taking and is now consolidating between roughly $78,000 and $80,000 as the market awaits the next macro and liquidity catalyst.
5. ETH Reclaims $2,500 as SOL Moves Back Above $100
ETH was last trading around $2,502.5, up 1.82% over 24 hours. SOL gained 3.81% to $100.71, moving back above $100, while XRP rose 2.91% to $1.39 and BNB gained 1.17% to $703.56. Major cryptocurrencies showed varying degrees of recovery after the previous day’s pullback.
6. Total Crypto Market Cap Holds at $2.65 Trillion as Sentiment Remains in “Greed”
CoinMarketCap data showed total crypto market capitalization rising 0.15% over 24 hours to around $2.65 trillion, while trading volume fell 24.51% to $79.76 billion. Bitcoin dominance stood at 59.61%, down 0.17 percentage points from the previous day, while the Fear & Greed Index remained at 79.
7. SEC Submits Crypto Custody Rule Changes for White House Review
The US SEC has submitted revisions to its digital-asset custody rules for investment advisers to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs under the White House Office of Management and Budget. The proposal seeks to clarify how advisers can hold crypto assets for clients while complying with existing requirements and aims to reduce some regulatory burdens created by current rules.
8. CryptoQuant Says Bitcoin Is in Early Bull Market, with $83,000 Still Key Confirmation Level
CryptoQuant said Bitcoin has entered the early stage of a new bull market, but a close above the 365-day moving average near $83,000 is still required for “formal confirmation” under its model. Its Bull Score surged from 30 to 80 over the past week, although short-term profit-taking indicators have also risen sharply.
9. JPMorgan Discusses Issuing Stablecoin as Major Banks Shift Their Stance
According to The Wall Street Journal, JPMorgan has internally discussed the possibility of issuing its own stablecoin. A global banking group that includes Bank of America and Wells Fargo is also planning a multi-currency stablecoin project for commercial use, signaling that traditional banks are reassessing their previously cautious approach to stablecoins.
10. Bank of Korea Raises Rates by 25 Basis Points for Second Straight Meeting
The Bank of Korea raised its seven-day repurchase rate by 25 basis points to 3.00% on August 27, marking its second consecutive rate increase. Of 35 economists surveyed by Reuters, 18 had expected the hike. The central bank said inflation remains above target and financial-stability risks still require attention.
11. Markets Price Around 87% Chance of BOJ Rate Hike in September
The dollar traded around 159.23 yen in early Asian trading. Interest-rate markets currently imply an approximately 87% probability of a Bank of Japan rate hike in September. Investors are awaiting Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino’s remarks today for clues on the size and pace of tightening and the broader policy-normalization path.
12. US July PCE Rises 3.7% Year-on-Year, Above Fed Target for 65 Straight Months
The US PCE price index rose 3.7% year-on-year in July, above the market forecast of 3.6%, while the monthly increase of 0.2% also exceeded the expected 0.1%. Core PCE inflation remained at 3.3%. Persistently elevated inflation has put the possibility of another Fed rate hike in September back at the center of market attention.
13. US Q2 GDP Holds at 1.5% as Consumer Spending Is Revised Up to 3.4%
The second estimate of US second-quarter GDP remained unchanged at an annualized growth rate of 1.5%. Consumer spending growth was revised up from 3.2% to 3.4%, while private domestic final sales increased 4.2%, the fastest pace since the first quarter of 2023. Corporate profits rose by $400.9 billion during the quarter, the second-largest increase on record.
14. Qatar’s Prime Minister Visits Tehran to Push for Renewed US-Iran Diplomacy
Qatar’s prime minister is scheduled to visit Tehran on August 27 to continue mediating between the US and Iran and discuss freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil flows through the Strait currently stand at around 5 million barrels per day, only one-quarter of the roughly 20 million barrels per day seen before the war.
15. Anthropic Reportedly Signs $45 Billion AI Computing Deal with Nscale
Anthropic reportedly plans to pay around $45 billion over six years to lease computing capacity from UK AI infrastructure company Nscale at a data center in West Virginia. The facilities will use Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips, further highlighting how major AI companies continue to rapidly expand infrastructure spending.
