CZ Eyes Robinhood CEO, CASHCAT Hits New High: Reading On-Chain Sentiment

Today, Robinhood's leading on-chain token $CASHCAT hit an all-time high market cap of $240 million, drawing more attention to on-chain markets.
To be fair, with BTC and ETH performing so strongly, and even the often-mocked Machi Big Brother turning $150,000 into $12.72 million in three days by going long on ETH, it's no surprise that on-chain markets are getting more attention.
This article aims to summarize and analyze the recent on-chain situation—what stage are on-chain markets currently in? What might explain certain patterns? And should we be optimistic about on-chain markets going forward?
On-Chain Markets Are Actually Lagging the Broader Market
For those who have been consistently active on-chain, there have clearly been more opportunities since last week. These include "cat" coins across various chains—Robinhood's $CASHCAT, Base's $BASECAT, Solana's $CATE, and others. There have also been good opportunities on less-followed chains, such as the privacy project $FOLD on Ethereum mainnet, supported by Vitalik, and the meme coin $egg on HyperEVM.
More opportunities, but not necessarily easy money, because the tokens mentioned above aren't exactly first-tier. In fact, the rally since last week has centered more on relatively "old" tokens, without any explosive new fast-rising tokens. So whether it feels easy to make money depends heavily on each player's specific holdings.
For example, is $MarsCoin on BSC a good token? Yes—the US stock meme concept is good, and the Binance Alpha listing support is good, but its price performance since last week hasn't been great.
How to explain why "old" tokens are outperforming new launches? I think this shows that on-chain markets are still lagging the broader market at this stage. Because the strength of BTC and ETH's rise has surprised almost everyone, and for on-chain new listings, sentiment and capital haven't fully flowed in yet. But for tokens that have historically had strong communities and capital support, some capital may be starting to test market sentiment with certain moves. Combined with these tokens already having market recognition, it's these older tokens that are starting to rise.
This lack of consensus isn't limited to on-chain meme coins; it applies to other altcoins as well. So we see BTC and ETH holding strong, while some tokens seem to be taking the opportunity to dump and exit, and others have posted decent gains but nothing spectacular—still far from all-time highs, more like a test.
The Strongest Narrative May Be Brewing
If the broader market remains stable or even strong, on-chain markets haven't even "started" yet. Bitcoin at $80,000 isn't high, and it still needs to be tested over a longer timeframe.
Under current market conditions, optimism about future on-chain markets comes mainly from the following aspects.
First, meme coins have been repositioned at this stage. In the $DOGE and $SHIB era, meme coins were a novel narrative within the crypto space—similar to CryptoPunks in NFTs. At first, nobody understood why these things could skyrocket; only after they peaked did people get it. Then came the pump.fun era, where meme coin asset issuance and trading models underwent massive changes, and the innovation in underlying mechanics allowed people to profit from chasing attention.
Now, exchanges and public chains are gradually realizing that meme coins are the asset class best able to attract user growth. As Solana's CPO Vibhu said, "Meme coins are the best and only crypto use case that attracts mainstream users, and they have generated the vast majority of crypto returns."

Although crypto, driven by compliance, has public chains and exchanges wanting to do bigger business by bringing traditional finance on-chain, to grow the business you first need users. In this context, meme coins—already a stable crypto business—have become a sector no one can ignore.
In the past, things moved slowly, and it took a long time for a big golden dog to emerge because the meme coin industry wasn't mature enough. Now everything has changed.
Second, meme coins have never received such positive affirmation, especially after the emergence of the US stock meme play. Robinhood CEO Vlad recently reiterated and affirmed US stock memes on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast: "If you hold a certain meme coin, you can receive tokenized US stock airdrops. This unique play connects meme coins with US stocks—a unique asset class we never imagined before."
Vlad also mentioned that before Robinhood, about 50% of US households held stocks, and Robinhood raised that to 65%. Going forward, tokenization is the key to pushing stock ownership to 95% and making quality US stocks and other RWA assets more easily distributed globally.
Although Vlad didn't say US stock memes would drive ownership to 95%, this still upgrades the US stock meme narrative—a hybrid asset with higher acceptance among young people, letting them acquire US stock assets while playing. Even now, there are many on-chain players who have never traded US stocks but hold US stocks through trading meme coins.
When asked about US stock memes, CZ also gave a very positive assessment: "US stock memes are a novel and interesting play, but it's necessary to ensure issuers can actually fulfill their obligations."

A sector affirmed by both Vlad and CZ has yet to produce a token with a market cap over $100 million—there are simply too many possibilities.
Finally, CZ followed Vlad yesterday, and Vlad commented on a Mars-related tweet from Musk yesterday, ending with "See you on Mars." This move gives us huge room for imagination—what if Binance and Robinhood open listing channels for each other, with Binance listing $CASHCAT and Robinhood listing $MarsCoin?
The strongest narrative since the Trump coin may be brewing. After more than a year of bear market torment, the market is not short of good tokens. Whether it's community or narrative, surviving tokens have been tested enough; they just need a spark to ignite.
This altcoin season will again be vastly different from the past. We can see changes at the meme coin level, but many changes cannot yet be anticipated or captured. It is this uncertainty that makes me highly optimistic about future markets—regardless of past successes or failures across multiple cycles, this time we may soon return to the starting line of a golden era.
