1. Bitcoin Holds Near $78,000 as $80,000 Remains a Key Resistance Level

CoinMarketCap data showed Bitcoin trading around $78,211 before publication, with less than 1% movement over 24 hours and an intraday range of roughly $77,768 to $79,737. High oil prices and elevated long-term yields have not triggered another major selloff, but $80,000 remains a closely contested short-term level.

2. ZEC Rises More Than 5% to Above $1,240, Enters Crypto Top 10 by Market Cap

Latest CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap data showed ZEC holding near $1,240, up around 5% over 24 hours and continuing to significantly outperform BTC and ETH. Renewed investor interest in privacy coins has helped push ZEC into the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

3. Zcash ETF Assets Exceed $500 Million, Holdings Top 550,000 ZEC

Grayscale’s Zcash ETF (ZCSH) surpassed $500 million in assets under management roughly two weeks after listing. The fund now holds more than 550,000 ZEC, equivalent to around 3% of circulating supply. Cumulative external inflows have exceeded $70 million, alongside an approximately $100 million investment from DCG.

4. US Senate to Hold Key Procedural Vote on CLARITY Act Next Week

The US Senate plans to hold a key procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The crypto and banking industries are intensifying lobbying efforts in senators’ home states, with disputes centered on digital-asset regulatory jurisdiction, competition between stablecoins and bank deposits, and anti-money-laundering provisions.

5. First US Staked TRX ETF Launches Under Ticker TRXS

Canary Capital’s Staked TRX ETF began trading in the US market on September 9 under the ticker TRXS. It is the first US ETF to provide direct spot exposure to TRX while incorporating on-chain staking rewards into the fund’s net asset value. TRX currently has a market capitalization of around $32 billion.

6. US Treasury Announces Up to $6 Billion Buyback of Long-Dated Treasuries

The US Treasury said Wednesday it would buy back up to $6 billion of 10- to 20-year off-the-run Treasuries, three times the size of its previous long-duration buyback, in an effort to improve liquidity. Markets had expected a possible $8 billion to $10 billion operation, and yields rose after the announcement, with the 10-year yield reaching 4.8528% intraday, its highest since November 2023.

7. Brent Crude Breaks Above $100, Settles at $101.21

Brent crude rose 3.4% overnight to settle at $101.21 per barrel after reaching an intraday high of $101.58, its highest close since late May. WTI gained 3.25% to $96.05. Escalating maritime conflict between the US and Iran has driven a rapid repricing of supply risks in the Strait of Hormuz.

8. Iran Says It Retaliated Against 10 Vessels as US-Iran Maritime Conflict Expands

Iran said it launched retaliatory attacks on 10 vessels near the Strait of Hormuz after the US destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. Continued clashes involving tankers and naval vessels have further reduced commercial shipping traffic, sharply increasing the geopolitical risk premium in oil prices.

9. Strait of Hormuz Shipping Costs Surge, Some Voyages Face Extra Costs of Up to $20 Million

As security risks increase, war-risk insurance premiums and vessel operating costs for ships entering the Strait of Hormuz have surged. Some energy companies estimate that additional costs for a single transit by certain large vessels can reach $10 million to $20 million, further raising the effective cost of energy transportation.

10. US Gasoline Tops $4 as Diesel Hits Record $5.94

Higher crude prices are increasingly feeding through to US consumer energy costs. Reuters data showed US gasoline prices holding above $4 per gallon, while diesel rose to a record $5.94. Brent is up roughly 50% year-on-year, bringing energy inflation back to the center of the policy debate.

11. Gold Gains More Than 1% to $4,414 as Silver Jumps 3.3%

Spot gold rose 1.4% to $4,414.30 per ounce, while US December gold futures settled at $4,458.80. Spot silver gained 3.3% to $67.91 and platinum rose 5.1% to $1,906.20, supported by a softer dollar and geopolitical safe-haven demand.

12. ECB Meets Today, Markets Broadly Expect Another Rate Hike

The European Central Bank is set to announce its latest policy decision today, with markets widely expecting another increase in policy rates. LSEG data show traders are also pricing in two cumulative rate hikes during 2026 and see the policy rate potentially rising to around 3.1% by the end of 2027.

13. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix Plan Combined $97 Billion in Shareholder Returns This Year

Strong demand for AI memory chips has boosted cash flow at South Korea’s two largest chipmakers. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix plan combined shareholder returns of more than 130 trillion won, or roughly $97 billion, this year. Share buybacks by South Korean listed companies have also reached a record 39 trillion won.

14. Yen Holds Near 153.5 as Expectations for BOJ September Hike Strengthen

The dollar traded around 153.5 to 153.7 yen in early Asian trading, with the yen up roughly 4% so far this month. Markets broadly expect the Bank of Japan to raise its policy rate from 1% to 1.25% at its September 17–18 meeting, while continued unwinding of carry trades is supporting the currency.

15. US Stocks Extend Declines as Dow Falls 404 Points and Nasdaq Drops 0.64%

On September 9, the Dow fell 0.77% to 52,381.02, the S&P 500 declined 0.48% to 7,636.46, and the Nasdaq lost 0.64% to 26,253.34. The S&P energy sector rose 1.1% against the broader decline, while all other major sectors closed lower as high oil prices and elevated long-term yields weighed on equities.

16. Meta Surges 6.6% as Muse AI Becomes One of the Day’s Strongest Tech Catalysts

Meta shares jumped around 6.6% as investors responded positively to the launch of its next-generation AI assistant, Muse. The product can autonomously carry out multi-step tasks, making Meta one of the strongest-performing major technology stocks despite broader pressure on the sector.

17. Google to Invest $15.1 Billion in Finnish AI Infrastructure Over Two Years

Google said it will invest at least €13 billion, or roughly $15.1 billion, in Finland over the next two years to build three new AI data centers, its largest-ever investment in Europe. Alphabet has raised its global capital expenditure plan for this year to $195 billion–$205 billion.

18. Google Signs 22-Year Nuclear Power Deal as Fortum Surges 15.5%

Google also signed a 22-year power purchase agreement with Finnish energy company Fortum, under which it could buy up to 50% of the output from the Loviisa nuclear power plant. It marks Google’s first nuclear energy procurement agreement outside the US. Fortum shares jumped 15.5% to a four-and-a-half-year high.

19. Nvidia Partners with Australian Firms on Up to 2 GW of AI Computing Infrastructure

Nvidia announced partnerships with several Australian cloud computing and data center companies to expand AI infrastructure, with projects targeting up to 2 gigawatts of AI computing capacity by 2027. AI data center capital spending continues to spread from the US into the Asia-Pacific region.

20. Apple Launches First Foldable iPhone Duo at $1,999

Apple unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. The device features a 7.6-inch foldable display, an A20 Pro chip, a C2 modem and a titanium body. Apple is formally entering a foldable smartphone market long dominated by Samsung and Huawei. Its shares ended around 0.3% lower.
