Bitcoin Core Developers Debate Whether AI Adoption Is Behind the Times

Odaily News: Christine D. Kim said on X that last Thursday, Bitcoin Core developers held their weekly meeting to discuss whether the team is lagging behind in AI adoption. Spiral lead Steve Lee stated that donors and community members are concerned that the Core project has neither adequately defended against AI cyber threats nor effectively utilized AI to assist in code review, testing, and troubleshooting. This month, over 5,200 Bitcoin addresses have been hacked, with losses exceeding 1,800 BTC; hackers reportedly used Kimi K3 to discover a vulnerability in the Coldcard wallet, and the CLN client also urgently patched critical vulnerabilities due to a surge in AI-generated reports.
