British Man Recovers 61 Bitcoins Worth $4.4 Million After 12-Year Legal Battle
Odaily News: A British man, "Chris," has recovered 61 Bitcoins, currently worth approximately $4.4 million, after a 12-year legal battle following the cessation of operations of the UK cryptocurrency exchange Intersango in 2014.
Chris purchased the Bitcoins in 2011 and left them in the exchange's custody without transferring them to a self-custody wallet. Intersango, formerly known as Britcoin, was one of the first UK exchanges to offer Bitcoin trading against the pound.
Ryan Sweetnam, Director of Financial Litigation at CEL Solicitors, assisted in recovering the assets. The law firm spent four months submitting the necessary documents to a US court, and the return was ultimately completed through negotiation. Chris said he now opens the wallet containing the Bitcoins about 20 times a day. (Bitcoin.com News)
